In its 12 year history the Ford Focus has become one of the most popular cars for motever. Since it first appeared in 1998 as the replacement for the then slightly tired looking Ford Escort, no less than 9.2 million have rolled off Fords Production lines on car repairaround the world, including in Russia .Within its first 12 months 100,000 had been sold in Europe and by March 1999, there were a further 200,000 on order. The floorplan and chassis proved extremely versatile and have been used as the basis for a whole range of derivatives, including the European CMAX , Kuga and Focus RS Models especially useful for Mot. In North America the SVT Focus, Ford also built its Focus ‘WRC’ (World Rally Championship) variant to take up where many generations of the mighty rallying Escort had left off. The Focus has throughout its life remained a key mechanic player in the C segment and like its bigger brother the Mondeo rapidly became a popular choice fleet drivers for Mot, the source of many of today’s UK used models, Focus deservedly scooped ‘Car of the Year’ awards, in both Europe and the states – and has taken more than 100 other major awards. Always a popular vehicle at Mot time, the range has consistantly offered easy, accessible maintenance (okay we won’t make too much of the awkward siting of the brake fluid reservoir on the car for MOT.
