When launched in 1993 the Peugeot 306 was, by almost universal consent, the best mot car in its class. With superb handling charecteristics cabin design and comfort, it appealed to everyone in the family; Mum and Dad could enjoy driving it even a mechanic liked it; the offspring had plenty of space to spread themselves out. And whoever controlled the family purse strings could not fail to be impressed by the very realistic purchase, running and car repair costs.

The principal weakness of the 306 was of course, the usual Peugeot one-it wasn’t the best car in the world in terms of long term durability. Peugeot-Citroen new prices are always competitiveand some would say that it is the second and third owners owners of their cars who pay the price for this in terms of material quality that is sometimes a little ‘down to a price’. Interiors in particular can wear rapidly, and the relatively lightweight construction means that light panel damage isn’t unusual either.
